Arrow Better Protein Bars - PLEASE HELP, gracias.

    Alright err' body,

I have asked around here and there, but it's time to make a concerted and focused effort and hope Nate stops in here with his chef-awesomeness to lend a hand.

CAN ANYTHING BE USED IN PLACE OF HONEY IN THE BETTER protein bars so that the carbohydrate load isn't so high in quantity and GI?

I LOVE THESE bars, if they are in the fridge, they are all I think about - so finding a way around dumping honey into the mix would be hugely helpful. THANKS!

Such as? I can't use Truvia or Equal, because they are granules/powder. I would need a liquid type of replacement with the thick consistency of honey.

I use Agave nectar but it's about the same carb load. I use less though, almost half as much, because it's super sweet. Also, Primordial makes something called sweet serum which is a derivative of Agave. I know it can be used.

Agave is just as sugar dense, or even more, than honey.

    Agave nectar's [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_index"]glycemic index[/ame] and [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_load"]glycemic load[/ame] are comparable to fructose

Hey... sugar free honey, here's a 12 pack for $35 [ame=http://www.amazon.com/HoneyTrees-Imitation-Honey-12-Ounce-Bottles/dp/nutrition-facts/B000YSXDDY]HoneyTree's Imitation Honey, Sugar Free, 12-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12): Amazon.com: Grocery & Gourmet Food[/ame]

BUT... IT STILL HAS 17g of carbohydrates. On the nutrition facts is doesn't have any sugar alcohols listed... I'M REALLY CONFUSED.

That has to be wrong. I found another one that said 5g just from sugar alcohols. Sugar free maple syrup is an option too. It has about 9 carbs.

The agave is high concentrate but I don't use near as much and just use water to make up the difference. The next time I make them I'll figure out the macros on it.

I've used syrup and I like the slightly nutty maple flavor. I would imagine they would be good.
